Description

An original sixties business card for photographer, Robert Freeman. Robert’s address 13 Emperors Gate is printed along the bottom edge. John and Cynthia Lennon lived in the flat above Freeman.
Robert famously photographed five of the UK album covers for The Beatles between 1963 and 1965. His work was featured on ‘With The Beatles’, ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, ‘Beatles For Sale’, ‘Help!’ and ‘Rubber Soul’. He also worked closely with John Lennon for the covers of his two books ‘In His Own Write’ and ‘A Spaniard In The Works’. The end credits sequences for The Beatles two films ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ and ‘Help!’ also featured Robert’s work.
The business card measures 8.8cm x 5cm (3.5 inches x 2 inches). There is a very small section of scuffing to the bottom right corner, otherwise the condition is excellent.
Provenance: from the estate of Chris Impey who was involved in creating the typography for both of John Lennon’s books and who worked closely with Robert Freeman and The Beatles.
A letter of authenticity from a relative of Chris accompanies the item.
